Belinda Pratten | The Birds
65cm x 100cm
Archival pigment prints on bamboo
Edition of 10 + 2AP
This exquisitely printed body of work is a homage to Alfred Hitchcock's 'The Birds', at the same time it is influenced by Michael Leunig's thoughtful and deceptively simple cartoons. Life often gives us moments of meditation and peacefulness, yet time and time again we walk past them without paying the attention that they deserve. Living in the middle of Australia's busiest city, Belinda Pratten has delved into her archive (amassing more than twenty years of work) to find images of quiet reflection and contemplation that offer moments of tenderness and calm awareness. This gorgeous set of large format, monochrome photographs (printed beautifully by Stephen Best at Macquarie Editions in Braidwood) offers stillness and moments of contemplation found in the beauty and divinity of the nature that surrounds us.
