Sticks & Stones: Architectural America
Fraenkel Gallery (2004)
Chosen by Dennis Church
I love this book, not so much because of any interest in architecture of buildings, but because Mr. Friedlander is having a raucous good time creating the architecture of his pictures. Friedlander has fun - it shows and it is contagious. The work can perhaps be taken as disrespectful of subject matter by some, but to me it is his excuse to make pictures just as he has done with so many subjects, pushing the limits of his vision and equipment into the avant garde.
