Philip J. Hilyard
Philip spent four years teaching English to students in China between 2005 and 2008. Immersed in the culture and communities where he lived and worked, Philip was able to make a comprehensive and personal account of daily life in the country. Shot on black and white 35mm film with a Leica camera, Philip's photographs continue the tradition of observational documentary photography, pioneered by the likes of André Kertész, Cartier-Bresson and Werner Bischoff.
