Susan Henderson

Born in Melbourne, Susan Henderson is a Canberra-based photographer who has been working with the medium for over four decades.

Susan’s first solo exhibition Provisioning, Boorowa - a study of rural life, was exhibited in Boorowa as as black & white gelatin silver prints in 2001.

Susan studied Visual Art (Photomedia) at ANU (2002) and was an artist in residence at PhotoAccess in 2004, where she continues to exhibit regularly. Susan has exhibited her photographs at Magnet Gallery, Melbourne, HeadOn Photo Festival in Sydney (2009), and Manning Clarke House (Time and Space in Spain, 2014). Susan was recently awarded a special commendation in the Maggie Diaz Photography Prize for Women at Brightspace, Melbourne (2015).

Susan’s photographs are held in private and public collections, including Fitzroy Town Hall, the Australian National University, PhotoAccess and the ACT Legislative Assembly.  Her work was included in 100 views of Canberra, a book celebrating the Centenary of Canberra as Australia’s national capital.
